About Us
The International Indonesia Conference on Interdisciplinary Studies (IICIS) is an annual academic forum initiated by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lampung, Indonesia. Entering its fifth edition in 2025, IICIS continues to serve as a premier platform for scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange concerning global and regional issues.
The 2025 conference theme “Food Security and Strengthening Human Resources”, underscores two interrelated global challenges: the need for sustainable food systems and the development of competent, resilient human capital in response to the pressures of environmental change, social disparity, and digital transformation.
This year’s IICIS will feature enriched thematic scopes that cut across academic disciplines within FISIP, ranging from governance, public administration, sociology, communication, international relations, business administration, and development studies. The conference will integrate theoretical, empirical, and practical contributions to address urgent questions about sustainability, equity, and transformation in both local and global contexts. In an era marked by rising geopolitical instability, climate change, armed conflicts, and widening social inequalities, the need for sustainable, inclusive, and interdisciplinary solutions is more pressing than ever.

It also applies to full paper authors who intend to submit their manuscripts for publication in the IICIS Proceedings, nationally accredited Indonesian journals, affiliated with and partnering with us this year.
SCOPE AND FOCUS
Manuscripts (abstracts and full papers) accepted for the 5th IICIS 2025 must be closely aligned with this year’s main conference theme: “Food Security and Strengthening Human Resources.” To reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the conference — which is a core characteristic of IICIS, submitted manuscripts are also expected to align with one or more of the six main topics and 30 sub-topics listed on the official conference announcement page.
Types of manuscripts expected include original research articles, field studies, literary research, and case studies. However, other article types are neither restricted nor prohibited from being submitted by participants. For the 5th IICIS 2025, authors are required to prepare three research-related documents:
- Abstract – submitted for registration as a presenter at the IICIS conference
- Presentation slides – to be presented during the IICIS conference
- Full manuscript – submitted for publication in the IICIS Proceedings or in nationally accredited Indonesian journals that are official partners of this year’s IICIS conference
ABSTRACT
- Abstract submitted during IICIS registration serves as a summary of the entire article or research report (if the research has been completed) or a summary of the research design (if the research is still ongoing).
- The abstract title should be concise and reflects the research problem and variables, optionally including the methods. This title also should be clear, understandable, engaging, and informative.

- Abstract content should be written in a paragraph of 150 to 300 words, summarizing the research background, research problem or objective, methodology, analytical tools (including core concepts and theories), results or key findings, results, and recommendations (if applicable).
- Keywords must consist of 3 to 5 words or phrases highly relevant to the research. These may refer to the main object, variables, core concept or main theory, and methodology.
- The abstract must not include abbreviations (for title), bullet points or enumeration, and citations. Scientific symbols may be used if they are universally understood. Decimal notation should follow international standards using a period symbol (.) as the decimal marker.
- The abstract must be written in English.

- The duration for each abstract lasts 10 to 15 minutes, excluding Q&A or discussion sessions.
- All slides and oral presentations must be delivered in English.
- Presenters are free to use their slide design format. However, we encourage you to consider the following suggestions for effective academic communication:
Ensure the overall design aligns with the research topic or title,
Use proportional fonts, ideally between 20 to 32 pt,
Limit the number of words per slide to a maximum of 60 words,
Try to avoid using overly long text on a single slide,
Use high-quality images for backgrounds and themes,
Summarize complex data using figures, diagrams, and tables,
Refrain from using excessive animations,
Videos may be used as part of the presentation if they do not extend the allocated time.
- The file format for the presentation slides must be PowerPoint.

Dear Authors and Participants of IICIS 2025,
As part of our commitment to upholding scientific integrity, academic responsibility, and meaningful knowledge dissemination, the Organizing Committee of the 5th International Indonesia Conference on Interdisciplinary Studies (IICIS) 2025 has established the following No Show Policy. This policy applies to all authors whose papers have been accepted for presentation at this event.
No Show Policy
The IICIS 2025 No Show Policy outlines the conditions under which a paper is classified as a "No Show." This refers to cases where authors fail to present their accepted papers at the scheduled time and session. A paper will be deemed a “No Show” under any of the following circumstances:
- None of the listed authors (nor an officially appointed representative) attends any of the IICIS 2025 sessions,
- The designated presenter (or appointed representative) fails to attend the session on time or does not appear according to the published schedule, resulting in no available opportunity or allocated time for the paper to be presented,
- The presenter delivers content that significantly deviates from the submitted paper or fails to meet general academic presentation standards,
- The paper is presented by a representative who is not officially registered or formally appointed by the original author(s),
- The presenter is absent without prior notice and without providing a valid reason.
Consequences of a “No Show”
Regrettably, papers classified as “No Show” will not be published in the official proceedings of the 5th IICIS 2025. In addition:
- These papers will not be considered for further publication assistance in any of the nationally accredited Indonesian journals or Scopus-indexed international journals affiliated with this year’s conference.
- The IICIS Committee will record these cases, which may influence future decisions on submissions or publications involving the same authors.
Rationale Behind This Policy
This policy is designed to ensure the best interests of all participants and uphold the integrity of the conference. Through its implementation, we aim to:
- Foster a meaningful academic forum for knowledge sharing, discussion, and collaboration,
- Ensure that each accepted paper receives the academic attention and positive feedback it deserves,
- Promote active and responsible participation from all contributors,
- Prevent "ghost submissions"—papers submitted without genuine intent to present,
- Strengthen the credibility of IICIS among Indonesian and international academic communities,
- Support the reputations of our partner journals and publishers, both national and international.
Exceptional Circumstances
We understand that emergencies and extraordinary situations may arise. Exceptions to this policy may be granted only under the following verified circumstances:
- Medical emergencies,
- Force majeure events (e.g., natural disasters, extraordinary incidents/events)
- Urgent and verifiable professional or personal obligations.
To request an exception, the presenter must contact the designated representatives in advance and provide a formal letter along with relevant supporting documentation:
- Nibras Fadhlillah : +62 822 2658 3640
- Khairunnisa S : +62 815 1702 1296
- Email : iicis@fisip.unila.ac.id
Once received, the organizing committee will review the request and provide further instructions. If approved, presenters may fulfill their participation requirement through one of the following alternatives:
- Appoint a co-author or an officially designated representative who is fully familiar with the content,
- Request a format change to online participation (live virtual presentation),
- Submit a pre-recorded video presentation as a final alternative if live participation is not feasible.
Final Remarks
We firmly believe that every author whose work has been accepted is an integral part of the academic ecosystem we are building together. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to participating in this conference and your contribution to its success. We hope that IICIS 2025 will be an exceptional and enriching experience for you.
Warm regards,
Organizing Committee
